Anjali Amit was born long, long ago in the far away land of India, in a city called Lucknow - in the erstwhile state of Oudh. There is a story about this city.

The Nawab of Oudh was very fond of chess. The story goes that his city was under attack and the invaders were at the gate. When his advisors came to inform him of the fact he waved them away, saying they could wait till he had finished his game. The inhabitants of Lucknow like to tell tales.

As children, she and her brother and sister traveled all over India, and learnt the stories of the various regions. The first book-Folktales from Rajasthan-is a collection of Indian tales. Now she is settled in Los Angeles with three children, an adorable cat named Mirabella, four computers and almost as many books in the home as stars you can see in the sky.
